Try The Fuck Harder: You Only Have Your Chains to Lose (How to Respond to a Lynching Threat)

P1240262

Berkeley High students on UC Berkeley Campus, protesting racist and lynching threats that occurred at their high school. November 5 2015.

I am at my cubicle when a coworker comes to me and says that hundreds of Berkeley high school students are protesting and marching through the Cal campus. It is noon on November 5 2015. She says there were racist and lynching threats towards Black students at Berkeley High School

They

Organized

By the hundreds…

I photographed.

I video-recorded.

I cried

As they shouted that all we had to lose

Are

Our

Chains.

I am Hopeful

That someone…

That many ones

Are trying

The

Fuck

Harder

To obliterate the hate and vitriol towards Black bodies

and a reminder

that this is the responsibility of

ALL

OF

US

My daughter turned 2 years old today. What a powerful and loving gift from them to create a safer future now for her.
